COMMODORE RECORDING TOWN HALL 1945

Eddie Bert's First Town Hall Recording took place on June 9, 1945 with the Red Norvo Orchestra
in a Gala Concert produced and recorded by Timme Rosencrantz as meticulously chronicled in Eddie's famous
notebooks as shown below. Playing with Eddie that night was Red Norvo, Billy Taylor on Bass, Buck Clayton,
and Specs Powell. Eddie can be heard on "IN A MELLOTONE" -- the same tune ending tthe infamous Mingus
concert on the same stage in 1962. Also recorded on the stage that night were
Teddy Wilson, Slam Stewart, Gene Krupa, and Stuff Smith. The recording were released several years later by Milt
Gabler on the Commodore Label and later reissued on a Mosaic set.
